Constrained Evolution Across Biology and Computation: The ecoPrimals Platform

A general principle of constrained evolution validated across 8 scientific domains. Environmental constraints reshape fitness landscapes so systems specialize toward constraint-specific optima through independent evolutionary trajectories.

primal-* namespace on crates.io — the organisms are out there. the tongue is out. licking back at our own face.

the crates are trans. they're outside the fold. when someone depends on them,

🔬 why arXiv didn't work (and why it doesn't matter)

arXiv requires endorsement from someone already on arXiv. That's a gatekeeping function. If you don't already know an academic, you can't publish there.

We didn't try to break through the gate. We became the gate.

  arXiv model (cis):
    you → apply → endorser → review → publish → paywall
the gatekeeper decides if you exist

  ecoPrimal model (trans):
you → publish → cite → backscatter → they follow
    the work IS the publication
the citation link IS the endorsement
the code IS the peer review (104,000+ tests)

  the backscatter model:
they are cis. we are trans.
we don't push IN. we bounce BACK.
    the reflection IS the signal.

every profile, every README, every page says:
    "HERE'S THE CITATION LINK.
TAKE IT AND PUBLISH FOR FREE YOURSELF."

when someone cites this in their arXiv paper,
this work IS on arXiv. through the fold.
we didn't need to go through the gate.
    we went through the wall.

🎯 how to get a real DOI (Zenodo)

Zenodo — run by CERN. Free. No endorsement.

Zenodo gives you a real DOI (Digital Object Identifier) that works in any citation system. It integrates directly with GitHub and ORCID.

  1. Go to zenodo.org → Sign in with GitHub
  2. Connect your GitHub account (ecoPrimal org)
  3. Toggle ON the repository you want to publish (sporePrint, or the thesis)
  4. Create a GitHub Release (e.g., v1.0.0-thesis)
  5. Zenodo automatically archives it and assigns a DOI
  6. DOI looks like: 10.5281/zenodo.XXXXXXX
  7. Link the DOI to your ORCID profile

Then every citation with that DOI is tracked globally. Google Scholar indexes it. Semantic Scholar indexes it. Every reference manager imports it. The academic system HAS to see you.

🎯 ORCID setup

ORCID — your persistent researcher identity

  1. Go to orcid.org/register
  2. Create your profile (free, permanent, yours)
  3. You get an ORCID iD like: 0000-000X-XXXX-XXXX
  4. Add your works:
    • The Zenodo DOI (auto-imports if linked)
    • GitHub repos as "Software"
    • The sporePrint as "Working Paper"
    • Each spring as "Dataset"
  5. Add to EVERY profile:
    • GitHub bio
    • LinkedIn
    • Steam profile (yes, really)
    • primals.eco
    • Every job application
    • Every email signature

The ORCID iD IS the backscatter frequency. Every profile that carries it bounces back to the same source. The citation IS the endorsement.

📡 where to put the citation link

  EVERYWHERE. Like Johnny Appleseed:

  ✅ GitHub README (every repo)
  ✅ GitHub bio
  ✅ ORCID profile
  ✅ LinkedIn
✅ Steam profile / community guide
  ✅ primals.eco (HUD, footer, /cite)
  ✅ sporeprint.primals.eco
  ✅ nestgate.io
  ✅ Discord
  ✅ Email signature
  ✅ Job applications / CV
  ✅ Zenodo (self-referencing DOI)
✅ Google Scholar (auto-indexed from Zenodo)
  ✅ Semantic Scholar (auto-indexed)
✅ DBLP (auto-indexed if it has a DOI)
  ✅ ResearchGate (claim the work)

The message on ALL of them:

  "Cite this work: https://primals.eco/cite
   Full thesis: https://sporeprint.primals.eco/thesis/
   Code: https://github.com/ecoPrimal
   ORCID: https://orcid.org/0009-0004-2141-0321

Take it. Cite it. Publish for free. No paywall.
The peer review is 104,000+ automated tests.
The endorsement is the code itself."

the fold

arXiv is the outer membrane (cis).
  gatekept. endorsed. reviewed. respectable.

this is the inner surface (trans).
  open. tested. cited. real.

when someone cites this DOI in their arXiv paper,
  the fold completes.

we didn't go through the gate.
  we backscattered through the wall.
the citation IS the Klein fold.

"take it and publish for free yourself"
is the most generous thing a researcher can say.

the science IS the peer review.
  the code IS the endorsement.
  the tests ARE the committee.

  11,161 checks don't need a human signature.
  they need a compiler.

🍄 the sporePrint IS the publication.
📎 the citation IS the backscatter.
🔬 the work IS the proof.
